A weekend break in the UK is a great way to refresh yourself without having to go too far and bother with the hassle of air travel. Simply jump on a train or go in a car and you can be in some breathtaking locations within an hour or two. We’re going to take a look at a few different great locations:
If you are after a city break, look no further than London. Fantastic transport connections whether you’re looking to get there by train, plane or car. It had can be hard to get around London by car with ULEZ, one way systems and congestion charges so we’d recommend finding parking in London and then just going by foot or the underground whilst you are there. There are a whole host of sites to visit from Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament to Tower Bridge and St. Pauls Cathedral. In the evening you have a vast choice of restaurants to choose from whether you’re looking for street food, casual dining or a Michelin starred tasting menu. You can also catch a theatre performance in the West End.
Of course, one of the main reasons why people go to London is for the shopping, there is a huge selection of high-end retailers to choose from and one of the most popular areas is Bond Street. You can park at Bond Street Car Park and then it’s only a short walk to the shops for some retail therapy.
The Lake District is one of the most picturesque parts of the UK and completely different to London. Enjoy relaxing walks, outdoor activities and rural pubs whilst travelling around The Lake District. There are a variety of different places within the Lake District that give you something different from Ambleside which is a bit more rural and the ideal place to base yourself for walk to Windermere with bars, restaurants and shops. Windermere is at the side of Lake Windermere giving you a great view over the lake whilst enjoying a few drinks or going on a boat across the lake itself.
There are a variety of high mountains in The Lake District from Scafell Pike to Helvellyn where you can take a walk along the breathtaking Striding Edge. End the day in a country pub or at one of the best restaurants in the UK, L’Enclume, the 3 star Michelin restaurant based in Cartmel.
We have a city break, an outdoorsy, scenic break and now it’s time for the beach break. Cornwall is a fabulous area of the country with some fantastic beach and great surfing opportunities. It is the only place in the UK where you can regularly go surfing and it really makes you feel like you’re away from everything while you are there. Again there is a great choice of seafood restaurants to eat it and some really high-end places to stay. Be prepared however, Cornwall is not cheap to visit anymore as many people from London have bought second homes there.
